Ouch! Saturday was a poor results day for the Major. Some bets flopped completely (Loose Performer the NAP), some performed well in defeat, Misaro sent off at 12/1 returning a 2 length 5th at Lingfield.
The results are on the data page for February. The Major advised a 38% loss yesterday. The betting resolutions (follow the link on the top banner) dictate that the Major has to remain relentlessly positive, so here goes.
Sunday is here, plenty of sport remains and a few things catch the eye.
At Musselburgh there are some nice races. The opening novice hurdle sees a Howard Johnson sort Moon Indigo who poses enough of a threat to make the 4/7 price about Skint way too skinny. I like Skint and think it will win but 8/11 was the price I had in mind. No bet advised but if I had a gun to my head I would be on Moon Indigo at 17/5.
The 2.30 Scottish Triumph Hurdle is a lovely looking race with some nice sorts and a bit of a puzzle. Like all juvenile hurdles, we don’t have all of the information we need and so plenty is left to be worked out. the one that really catches the eye for the Major is Music of the Moor. Sadly a non runner but one for the notebook. This leaves a solid piece of value is Vosges at 22/1 with Paddy Power. This horse has improved with every run including a course and distance effort in the latest outing. OK, it has to step up again but it has more experience than many and if moving up again could threaten.
Elite Land is an unexposed chaser still (4.10) and 11/2 is a decent price to have a win stab at it.
