Tuesday Racing Tips – Folkestone and Towcester

The Major has had a look at the Tuesday cards and typed up a few notes. I don’t write many mid week posts but was inspired by a few winning tips on my twitter account for today’s Plumpton card.

I put up the first three winners including a 20/1 tip for Opening Batsmen. Nothing like striking while the iron is hot so a few Tuesday thoughts on the blog is in perfect order.

Folkestone.

In the opener, I can forgive Award Winner a duff run last time out and despite the rising weights, a line through the last piece of form suggests he will be thereabouts. However, the Major remains predictable in giving a significant credence to Noel Fehily mounts. Thus, Dom Lukka near the bottom of the weights, with time to I is the tip at 5/1.

In the second, Minella for Steak is a very interesting sort. You have to get over the long absence since a point win across the Irish Sea but that day he beat subsequent G2 winners and fetched a quarter of a million at sale shortly afterwards. The danger is only his fitness. Likely 6/4 at that price it’s a bet.

Flowerbud is a bit of a guess in the third, running off a mark that’s almost a stone below the hurdling mark. A significant advantage given last time out she ran suitably well off that mark but there is a major downside to this tip. The selection is yet to win after 25 runs and that is enough to urge caution, small stakes at 8/1.

In the 2pm, Utopian is obviously a good place to start if settling better than last time out. The horse finished well considering most of the energy had been already dispersed in wasted efforts to fight the jockey. AP is not riding the McManus horse but is on Westward Point – I will take the hint.

The 2.30 see Splendid Life make a repeat cross channel raid having not raced since winning this last year. The major tips up On The Feather at 2/1 who was last seen in stronger company and has the assistance of the best jockey in the race.

There are only two to concentrate on in the 3pm and while Guydus will have his supporters after the last time out Wincanton win, I am siding with the champion jockey on Spot the Ball (13/8) whose Towcester run was promising.

In a day where I fancy most near the top of the market, Ranthambore should see off a weak bumper field.

Tips from Towcester

Billybo looks an odd favourite in the Towcester opener having had so long off the track. I tip Kilkascan whose form is respectable and has race fitness.

In the second, I would give a squeak to Little Chip who is in good hands and well priced at 8/1.

The 2.50 sees Dancing Daffodil turned out quickly after winning doing handstands at Ludlow last time out on similar ground. 11/10, get stuck in.

Absolutely Bygones is a bit of an outsider (likely 16/1) but I’m hoping the first bumper failure might be put behind as the horse travelled nicely for a long way.
