21st August The Majors Betting Selections

Well another wonderful day of sport is upon us and the Major has the winning betting selections from track and pitch.  The Pershore rain has cleared and my mind has risen to a new plain of existence where it is decidely easier to select the winner of the Solario (Titus Mills 8/1!) – To be fair, it is probably the new herbal tea talking but I have high confidence today:

Firstly on track – Why you can get 9/4 about Captain Coke winning the 4.15 at Sandown is a mystery.  What does this progressive sort have to do to garner more respect – Fill your boots I have a feeling it will win again, perhaps cosily.

There is some terrific action at the Curragh with some classy two year old potential stars out.  I am following The Bolger / Manning combinations for a quick double with Banimpire 11/2 in the 3.55 and Glor Na Mara in the 4.25 Evens.

I hope some of you were on when I tipped up Glor na Mara two weeks ago at 25/1 as he finished a strong second and ahead of smart prospect Strong Suit.  I think that Zoffany form is rock solid and see no reason to oppose today as the team pursue more black type in this Grp 2 contest.

Banimpire holds a similar profile – Not excelling on debut but representing a good team who know how to bring their two year olds on.

At 4pm today, Sky Sports will show you the Springboks taking on the All Blacks who only need to finish within seven points to take the Tri Nations.  I seriously think they will do better than that and a stand out price of evens for the All Blacks to win with a marginal 3 point handicap (only with 888sport) is a superb price considering they are 8/13 generally in the straight market.

On the fertile football fields of Britain there are tasty prices aplenty.  Last weekends selections were a muddled bunch and I apologise for the NAP falling over.  However I see plenty more value today for those of faith.  Remember  Jesus loves you but he was never generous enough to point out the folly of the enemies pricing strategy about Darlingtons trip to Kettering in the conference.  Darlington have enough quality retained in their relegated team to break down an average Kettering team and therefore 13/8 is a super bet.

I know I will not be the only one to also plunder Stoke at 5/2.  Spurs shipped three in mid week and look frail at the back.  This was a costly game with Modric, Keane, Pavvy and Defoe all needing the treatment room and likely to miss on todays Pottery excursion.  Kenwynne Jones could make a big home debut if recovering from injury.

Colchester and Rochdale have both drawn their starts this year but of the two I like the shape of Colchesters form the better.  7/4 to win at the Dale is honest.

Burnley should beat Leicester and 11/10 is not bad but i’m not overly excited by it.  East Stirling are sensational at 5/4 at Elgin – I would have them odds on so that can go into your multimples with confidence.

Two other away teams to note are Derby who I tipped up in the fantastic five run sequence on the opening weekend.  Since then they have narrowly lost at Cardiff but played respectably well.  Todays trip to Coventry looks easier.  While the sky blues have taken 4 pts from their opening two fixtures, it required some lucky turns of fortune, I think 9/4 (£100 returns £325!) represents fine fine value.

Finally West Ham looked appaling on their opening day defeat at Villa Park.  With Owen Coyle having his Bolton team well organised, I think the 12/5 on offer for Bolton to come out of London with a win is dismissive.  Get stuck in.

Taking Bolton, Stoke, Darlington and Captain Coke in a lucky 15 could be your ticket to this evenings fine cuisine washed down with a strong Barolo followed outdoors with some of Cubas finest tobacco products accompanied by beautiful french brandy.
